Identify your business functional areas
Examples:
Administrative
Compliance
Product manufacturing
Inventory management
Product shipping and delivery
Service delivery
Customer support
Financial Management
Marketing
Sales
Business Development
Training
Next
Select one functional area and identify as many activities as you can that fit within that area.
Example:
Compliance- licenses, certifications, insurance, laws and regulations regarding your product or service
Then
Identify as many of the tasks and tools and technology needed as possible that make up the activities in this functional area.
Finally
Make it as simple as possible. “How do I…” and list out the steps. You’ve now moved from framework to beginning to map out the processes that will support your operational functional areas.
